Entrepreneurs’ feedback is vital for the functionality of the system

AmCham Montenegro held a meeting at the Ministry of Economy on Friday, January 20, 2017. AmCham representatives met with the Minister of Economy, Ms. Dragica Sekulic and her associates in order to discuss future cooperation in improving the business environment in Montenegro.

“One of the most important ways to validate the functionality of the economic system and the laws we adopt, is to make sure to test them with entrepreneurs and hear the views of those who are required to comply with those laws”, said Minister of Economy Dragica Sekulic. Minister Sekulic continued: “Getting the response of the companies to the policy implemented by the Government is extremely important. In this sense, all inputs that we receive through your committees and entrepreneurs who are members of AmCham, are very useful to us. If there is a country, which can transfer its experience to Montenegro, in the field of starting and developing business, then that is the USA. Every advice you provide will be valuable to us,” said Minister Sekulic.

Executive Director of AmCham Montenegro, Dr Marko Mirocevic, introduced Minister Sekulic with the work of AmCham, and invited Ministry of Economy to designate a representative of the Ministry to join the work of AmCham Grey Economy Committee, thus taking part in AmCham’s “Partnership for a Better Business Environment”. With this initiative, AmCham opens its doors to all representatives of the public administration to our committees. “In this manner, we want to create the spirit of joint work, mutual understanding and to communicate regularly with decision-makers. AmCham will be, as it has always been, at the disposal of the Government of Montenegro, as the adviser and the partner in the process of creating policies which affect the business environment in Montenegro,” said Mirocevic.

Minister Sekulić thanked AmCham on the invitation for the partnership and stated that the Ministry of Economy will always be open for suggestions of the business community. “Your comments on the Law on Enterprise are of great significance. When it comes to that, and other laws which have a strong effect on the business of your members, feel free to provide us with your suggestions and commentaries. Not only in the normative section but the practical as well,” said Minister Sekulic.

President of AmCham Montenegro, Ms. Katarina Bulatovic stressed that the American Chamber of Commerce is a member of the global network of 117 AmCham’s worldwide. “We believe that the common task of the Government and AmCham is strengthening our partnership as well as contributing to Montenegro’s attractiveness as a destination for investment, and a market that provides transparent and predictable business and the growth of the investments,” said Bulatovic.
