Mr. Martinović meets AmCham members: Investors find Montenegro enticing because businesses have a say in shaping the country’s laws and policies

Mr. Vladimir Martinović, the Minister of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Development of the North, met with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro (AmCham Montenegro).

Minister Martinović briefed Mrs. Svetlana Vuksanović, President of the AmCham Board of Governors, on the department’s previous and future endeavors, as well as the challenges they encounter.

In order to enhance Montenegro’s economic climate, which is founded on equal opportunity and the rule of law, Mr. Vuksanović stressed the significance of communication between decision-makers and investors. AmCham and its members are well-equipped to provide public administration advice on a wide range of topics relevant to businesses.

Minister Martinović stressed the significance of concluding Chapter 27, as well as the growth of the northern region and tourism in Montenegro. He extended an invitation to American businesses to invest in Montenegro.

Throughout the discussion, there was a strong emphasis on protecting the environment and promoting tourism. Minister Martinović proposed partnering with renowned American educational institutions to educate tourism professionals. A more robust advertising effort for the promotion of tourism was also proposed by him.

The importance of American investments in environmental protection was highlighted, along with the need to establish a public-private partnership and exchange experiences. Investors from the US and other Western European developed markets find Montenegro appealing because of the active participation of the business community in the creation of public policies and regulations, according to AmCham. With the money they bring, they also bring the principles of socially responsible business, which center on doing good for the communities and ecosystems in which companies operate.

As part of the “Rule of Dialogue” platform, all present are in agreement to further strengthen the cooperation between the Ministry and AmCham in developing policies and regulations to safeguard the environment, in line with the commitments made in Chapter 27, particularly regarding the waste management system, and to lessen the effects of climate change in Montenegro.
