With a responsible attitude towards the environment, we also improve the business environment

Podgorica, July 29 – The American Chamber of Commerce signed seven memorandums of cooperation within the “Rule of Dialogue” program that it implements with the Government of Montenegro, namely with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Science and Technological Development, the Ministry of Public Administration, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare.

The last in the series were signed by the President of the Board of Governors  of the American Chamber of Commerce Svetlana Vuksanović and the Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism Ana Novaković Đurović.

Strategic planning of space and the environment, as well as improvement of the business environment in the field of construction and construction products, as Vuksanović said, are just some of the areas that the American Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry can improve together.

“Environmental protection and responsible attitude towards nature have no alternative. The involvement of the business community in the creation of clear regulations in those areas also contributes to making our market more attractive to investors, especially those from the United States of America and Western Europe, members of the EU. Such investors bring with them, apart from capital, a system of values based on socially responsible business. Through teamwork and dialogue in the Committees for real estate and environmental protection, we will contribute to the creation of policies aimed at establishing and promoting the concept of the Green Agenda and the circular economy. By creating conditions for the development of e-mobility in Montenegro that lead to the reduction of carbon emissions and supporting the promotion of sustainable development, by establishing ESG standards, as well as by applying new cleaner production technologies, we will get closer to the standards of developed economies,” said Vuksanović.

The Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, Ana Novaković Đurović announced that the signing of the Memorandum is a confirmation of the Ministry’s intention to improve and concretize cooperation with the American Chamber of Commerce, as an important partner with the already recognized results in the creation of a favorable investment climate.

“I have no doubt that there is a huge space for cooperation and that we need all the knowledge and experience in order to lay good foundations for system solutions with joint forces, especially in terms of spatial planning and waste management. The economic recovery of Montenegro must be balanced with the ecological one, and it is clear that AmCham promotes healthy investments with a healthy attitude towards the environment”, Minister Novaković Đurović said.

On June 6, the American Chamber of Commerce signed an umbrella Memorandum of Cooperation on the “Rule of Dialogue” program with the Government of Montenegro. The goal of the program is to intensify cooperation between institutions, and through continuous dialogue establish a more predictable and transparent business environment based on the rule of law. The program provides an opportunity for the public sector to exchange information and know-how in certain areas, announce in advance, and improve its policies. On the other hand, it gives the private sector the opportunity to become familiar with the policies of decision-makers in a timely manner, and to better understand and adequately apply them.
