AmCham Internship Program 2013 Certificate Ceremony

The U.S. Embassy in Montenegro and the American Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro hosted a reception at the residence of U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Sue K. Brown to recognize students who participated in the 2013 AmCham Internship Program. During the reception, Ambassador Brown awarded Certificates of Completion to students who successfully completed the 12-week internship program with one of eight participating AmCham member companies.

During her remarks, Ambassador Brown expressed her support of the AmCham Internship Program and thanked companies that took part in the Program. She congratulated students for successfully completing their internships and encouraged them to continue acquiring the necessary skills and qualifications that will help improve their community. Ambassador Brown highlighted in her comments that in a world of constant change and intense competition, constant self-improvement is required. She said that theoretical knowledge is great, but unfortunately it does not longer suffice for entering the business world. If one wants to stand out and distinguish himself from his colleagues, internships are becoming an important precondition, Ambassador Brown said.

The reception gathered student-interns, AmCham members who participated in the internship program, AmCham Board members as well as members of the U.S. Embassy staff.

The third year of the AmCham Internship program began on October 1, 2013 and ended on December 20, 2013. Fourteen students from the University of Montenegro, University of Donja Gorica and Mediterranean University, were selected to participate in the program, which is designed to help interns acquire knowledge, skills and business contacts that are vital in the modern business world. “We are especially grateful to our member companies that participated in the program and provided mentorship for these young professionals”, said AmCham Executive Director, Edin Seferovic. Participating companies included: Societe Generale Montenegro, Milšped Montenegro, Montenegrin Telekom, Gintasmont-Ramada, Telenor Montenegro, Podgorica McCANN, Colliers International and Čikom.

AmCham Montenegro will immediately proceed with organizing the 4th generation of its successful internship program.
