Deputy Prime Minister Lazovic Pledges to Work with AmCham Montenegro

On October 21st, 2009, Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Financial System Vujica Lazović was the keynote speaker and honorary guest at the AmCham Business Luncheon. U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro and Honorary President of AmCham Montenegro, H.E. Roderick W. Moore, was in attendance with over 75 representatives from AmCham member companies as well as guests of AmCham.

During his keynote speech, Deputy Prime Minister Lazović expressed the need for more American commercial activity in Montenegro and welcomed more U.S. investments by saying that “the Montenegrin government is prepared to work with American investors to create a favorable commercial environment.”

Dr. Lazović thanked Ambassador Moore for his help in facilitating American investments and for promoting Montenegro’s commercial opportunities. He outlined a few concrete investment opportunities in the following new tenders: Cvijeća Island, Mamula Island, Hotel Boka in Bijela, and new hydroelectric plants on the Morača and Komarnica Rivers, to name a few.

During the question and answer session of the luncheon we asked Deputy Prime Minister Lazović whether he would be willing to meet and work with members of AmCham to address their concerns and hear their suggestions for improving the business climate of Montenegro. He agreed to meet regularly with AmCham members to work on concrete ideas and projects.
